One out of five small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has breached the Data Protection Act, a new survey has suggested. The study by BSI also found that two out of three organisations do not provide any training on data protection laws to their staff. In addition, almost one-fifth of small firms admitted that data protection was not a priority for them during the economic downturn and nearly half of respondents confessed that they did not have specific people dealing with data protection issues.
